Color Pencil was not one of my favorite medium. I started using this only when I was teaching my children. I sooner than later i grew strong liking in the this medium. I realized to my surprise that we can create really astonishing realistic artwork.

Color pencil provides great control and turns out to be comparatively easier to paint than managing water color. Yet this provides great depth, vibrance and gradient. I must admit though even as an avid fan of water color medium I really like this medium as well.

For any learner who want to master water color and or any other medium I would advise to start with color pencil to make one accustomed with the blending, shadow, depth of field and negative painting concepts.
